No problems for the nudists of Sitges

Nudists and clothed bathers are sharing the beach without problems.
A year ago the beaches of Sitges, near Barcelona, which were used traditionally by nudists, saw the local Town Hall erect signs welcoming families.
At the time the council said that they did not want to ban nudists, but stop the exclusive nudist character of the beach.
The nudists protested at the time and even won a court order for the sign to be removed as it was considered discriminatory.
Now, a year on, the story is different as beaches in the town see a mix of both clothed and naked bathers.
As one woman told Público, ‘If the families with children are prepared for the children to be nudist too, then there is no problem’.
A new sign this year simply describes the beach as ‘beautiful and clean’ and everyone it seems is happy with that.
To nudists and naturists in America and Italy, that seems like a fairy tale, whereas, in Spain it’s a constitutionally guaranteed right.
There’s no logical reason why nudists and textiles can’t share the beach.
We all go there for the same purpose, to enjoy the sund, the sand, and the water.
Some of us just prefer to enjoy the beach without wet clammy bathing suits.
The Neo-Puritans need to come down off their high horses and check out what they’re so quick to condemn.
They might even enjoy themselves and learn to relax.
